Jonathan O'Hear

Bio in English

Born in 1971 in Rugby, England, Jonathan O’Hear studied literature at London University and film and video production in Vancouver at Columbia Academy and Vancouver Film School.
After his studies Jonathan returned to Geneva where he worked as a freelance cameraman and editor for documentary and news. He also directed a few short films.
In 1991 he left on a 6-month hitchhike across most of Europe during which he discovered the joy of working on live performance productions. This discovery turned into a passion and he has worked as a Lighting/Sound/Video designer ever since.
Between 1998 and 2004 he adapted those skills to the Internet and developed production concepts for very low bandwidth video over the Internet.
By this time his two kids and wife wanted a change of scenery so off they went to Brazil. While in Brazil they set two Fair Trade projects, one with the Maragogi Fishermen (Nordeste) and the other with the indigenous community of Maguari (Amazon). They assisted in the development of these two projects until 2006.
Back in Europe, first in Belgium and now Geneva where Jonathan works as a visual designer for live productions (mostly light and video).

Né le 4 Juillet 1971 à Rugby en Grande-Bretagne, il étudie la littérature à la London University et la production film et vidéo à la Columbia Academy de Vancouver et la Vancouver Film School.
Après ses études, Jonathan retourne à Genève où il travaille comme cameraman freelance et éditeur pour des documentaires et des infos. Il dirige aussi quelques court-métrages.
En 1991, il part en stop à travers l’Europe pendant 6 mois, au cours desquels il découvre la joie de travailler sur des productions de spectacles vivants. Cette découverte se transforme en passion, et depuis il travaille en tant que designer lumière-son-vidéo.
Entre 1998 et 2004, il adapte ces compétences à l’Internet et développe des concepts de production à la vidéo pour très basse bande passante pour l’Internet.
Dans le même temps, ses deux enfants et son épouse veulent changer de décor, aussi partent-ils tous pour le Brésil. Au Brésil, ils mettent en place deux projets Fair Trade, un avec les pêcheurs Maragogi (Nordeste) et l’autre avec la communauté indigène de Maguari (Amazon). Ils assistent le développement de ces projets jusqu’en 2006.
Retour en Europe, d’abord en Belgique et dorénavant à Genève, où Jonathan travaille comme visual designer pour le spectacle vivant (principalement lumière et vidéo).
