Dancer / Performer
Born in London in 1984, Ruch Childs moved to the United States in 1986 with her family where she started classical ballet at the age of 6. Finishing her academic studies in 2002, she moved back to London to study dance at the London Studio Centre, where she performed Images of Dance with the student ballet company and received a diploma in classical ballet.
In 2003 she came to Switzerland to join the Ballet Junior of Geneva where she worked with various choreographers including Foofwa d’Imobilité, Ken Ossola, Patrick Delcroix, and Lucinda Childs. After two years with the Ballet Junior, Ruth was hired to work for the company of Jean-Marc Heim in Lausanne for his piece Creatura (2005).
Since 2006, she moved to Geneva where she began working with Foofwa of Imobilité. She dances in many of his creations including BodyToys (2007), The Making of Spectacles (2008) and Laréduq (2011) among others. She has also worked with other choreographers including Jozsef Trefeli Geneva (Ooorpheus, 2009) and Louise Hanmer (Roll-Over, 2009.) Later she was hired by La Ribot to help, as a performer, in the creation llámame of mariachi, and also in 2010 for the new distribution of Laughing Hole (2006).
In 2011, she was also a performer for the last creation of La Ribot “PARAdistinguidas”, the fourth series of distinguished pieces. In 2012 she continues to tout with pieces of La Ribot, and began working with Gilles Jobin for two re-creations: Spider Galaxiesand A + B = X.
