Dancewalk – Μαραθώνας

Dancewalk – Μαραθώνας
10 Swiss-based and Greek performers
Dancing more than the traditional 42 kilometer route
From Marathon to Athens
November 5th to 8th
If the Marathon Flame and the Marathon Race are symbols “of human will and international peace”, if they “promote a different way of quality life and communication” while “expanding its potentials for better living quality”, we can say that dancing as a group from Marathon to Athens furthers these aims through the philanthropic and poetic acts of dance and art.
The Dancewalk is a dance performed world-wide by Foofwa d’Imobilité and friends since 2015. It is dancing through space over several kilometers and through time during several hours. It is also a celebration of life, an ode to freedom, an emancipation of oneself within the group and a declaration of cohesion that includes everyone’s differences and particularities.
Dancewalk – Marathon specifically dances from Marathon to Athens for more than the traditional 42 kilometer route in 4 days in order to take the time to be together and dance the geographical, historical, political and artistic signs along the way.
Under the Aegis of the Embassy of Switzerland in Greece, Cynthia Odier’s Fluxum Foundation, Flux Laboratory Athens and Swiss dance company Neopost Foofwa join forces to produce this artistic adventure from November 5th to 8th, uniting 6 professional Greek dancers to 4 dancers coming from Geneva, Switzerland, while inviting women, man and children from the region and elsewhere to participate. Everybody else is invited to walk along the Dancewalk procession or follow the live broadcast.
